A Wheelchair Accessible City Guide to Quito, Ecuador

However, after I discovered the accessible tour company Ecuador for All, it was all uphill from there. On my recent trip to Ecuador, I was pleasantly surprised by all of the places I could go in my powered wheelchair. Below is a wheelchair accessible guide to Quito, so that you can make the most of your time while there. One of my favorite parts of the trip was the time I spent in the capital city of Quito, Ecuador. At over 9,000 feet above sea level, Quito is a city whose beauty and altitude will take your breath away. Source: Curb Free with Cory Lee: A Wheelchair Travel Blog

Issue #529: Four Years with a Celestron Advanced VX Mount

I used to be a Celestron fanboy. I come not to praise Celestron, but neither do I come to bury them. For years, I bought only Celestron's gear and praised the company to high heaven. About four years ago, I began thinking about a replacement for my then most used rig, a 1995 Celestron Ultima 8 SCT tube riding on the company’s Advanced GT (CG5) telescope mount, a medium-light, computer-equipped. So, where does one of Celestron’s more popular and inexpensive mount offerings, the Advanced VX German equatorial mount (GEM), fall in the spectrum from damnation to salvation. However, I still like a good bargain if it’s a good bargain, and I’m not afraid to give praise where praise is due. For one thing, Celestron ain’t the Celestron it used to be. It’s long since been bought out by Chinese telescope giant Synta. Source: Uncle Rod's Astro Blog

  • An Equatorial to Altitude-azimuth Coordinate Converter

    1963. 34 pages.

This thesis develops a specialized digital computer which converts equatorial coordinates into altitude-azimuth coordinates. It briefly looks into three different methods of computing altitude-azimuth coordinates. One of these methods is considered best for the practical problem, that of obtaining coordinates for a large radio telescope. A computer based on this chosen method is then considered in detail.
